Total may subsidize purchase of cleaner cars

A fuel dispenser which encourages the purchase of more fuel-efficient car, the concept may seem surprising. Yet this is apparently preparing to make a total grant program to purchase eco-friendly car.

According to an article website Challenges.fr the operation should begin in the fall and cover the fleet managers of companies that are committed to improving environmental performance of their fleet. In 2011, the principle would be extended to individuals who receive assistance from the French oil when buying a car with low CO2 emissions.

Total Offer seems motivated by Article 27 of Act II Grenelle, voted last July and will enter into force on 1 January. This regulation requires distributors of fuel previously spared by the Grenelle I, to encourage energy conservation among consumers no fax payday advances.According Challenges.fr, they may have to pay 1.8 billion euros over three years if they do not meet this new provision. A grant program launched by the company could thus enable it to comply with the regulations and to recover the famous energy saving certificates (EEC)

At Total, we said that projects for corporate fleets or rental of vehicles have been submitted to the authorities but that no decision should be taken before the end of the year. As for how the grant or extension to individuals, they are "not yet accomplished."
